NPR Posts Memo from NYT's Lawrence 'Larry' Ingrassia about Reporter Kurt Eichenwald's Controversial Coverage

NYT Biz Editor Lawrence 'Larry' Ingrassia discusses the upcoming Enron trial with Kurt Eichenwald (l) and Joseph Nocera (r) in a video from www.nytimes.com  Kurt Eichenwald on www.nytimes.com prior to questions that arose concerning possible ethics violations stemming from Eichenwald providing financial support to the subject of some of his reporting.

Reporting on a disturbing subject – war, terrorism, child pornography – can be physically and emotionally taxing, of course. But Kurt had a long history of working on challenging topics, and his track record gave us no reason to doubt his ability to handle this story.

Kelly says he reached Ingrassia for comment but the editor didn't confirm that the book proposal has been dropped.  "You'll just have to go with what your heard," Ingrassia said, according to Kelly.

It was hard, at times, to reach them by phone or even by e-mail. Some WSJers not only worked near the WTC, but they also lived in the neighborhood and thus found themselves homeless. Although the ...<< MORE >>
